Education, Family, Community
2007
Approximate size: 5' x 4' x 3'
This sculpture was commissioned by the East Lansing Student Pride Team, for the high school in East Lansing, Michigan.
Three student books, held by students’ hands, and a mirror-finished book, held by a teacher’s hand, together symbolize education.
The students’ hands rise from pairs of abstract hands, symbolizing family.
The circle with a river running through it symbolizes the local community, connected to the global community symbolized by the vertical bronze hoop.
