Sculpture in stainless steel and bronze by Jim Cunningham

Recycling for a Sustainable World   2010

Approximate size: 5' x 4' x 3'
Stainless steel

Commissioned by the city of East Lansing and supported by a local recycling company, this piece includes a sculptural rendition of the recycling symbol.

The classic recycling symbol, three arrows following each other around a triangle, was first proposed in 1970 by a design student who thought of a Mobius loop as a symbol of continuous use. This sculpture presents the recycling symbol in three dimensions, as a three-sided Mobius loop supporting our world.
